Michael Nouri (“Damages”) Guest Stars

A CEO (guest star Nouri) falls mysteriously ill just days before he signs a contract that would relocate his company’s entire labor force to China. HOUSE (Hugh Laurie) attempts to make an underhanded business transaction with his wealthy patient, but when the patient’s condition worsens, the team must work around the clock to save his life. Meanwhile, PARK (Charlyne Yi) prepares for her hearing with the Princeton Plainsboro Disciplinary Committee chaired by FOREMAN (Omar Epps), and ADAMS’ (Odette Annable) outlook on her patient’s business venture reveals her deeper feelings about loyalty in the all-new "Risky Business" episode of HOUSE airing Monday, Oct. 31 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (HOU-804) (TV-14 D, L)
Timeline
Halloween 2011 (this comes out in the discussion with the clinic patient who is dressed up in a costume where 2011 is mentioned).
Patient of the Week
Thad Barton, businessman moving his business to China to save it from bankruptcy. He is cleaning up his yard after being harassed by the employees he will be firing when the deal goes through. Suddenly everything seems very small or far away.
How House gets involved:
He is already involved when we first see him but he decides to continue when he discovers a way to blackmail the client into funding his deptment
The privacy invasion / ethical breach / Rule Breaking
Blackmailing his client to get money for his department. And some insider trading. House starts to hit the doctor who is using his old office.
Preliminary diagnoses:
They are going to treat possible thyrotoxicosis when the patient reports that now things seem very large. House decides this is Alice in Wonderland Syndrome (which it turns out is a real thing). Later he develops heart trouble. Now House thinks he has hyperviscosity syndrome, Factor V Leiden deficiency or myelodysplasia which House decides to treat with activated protein C which will cause major problems for the patient but allow for an accurate dianosis. But the patient only starts itching which quickly goes away. Park suggests a tilt table tests but this leads to patient to fall into a coma (predicted by the neurologist who she hit when he grabbed her butt.
The final diagnosis
Hyperviscosity syndrome caused by the patient's rheumatoid arthritis. We knew from the first scene he had arthritis. This is easily treated with plasmapheresis and in an hour Thad wakes up.
Who Came up with final diagnosis
House while looking at an x-ray.
Clinic Patients
Guy who dressed up in a costume of conjoined twins and got stuck to the manikin representing his twin

Quotes, Quotations, Dialogue, Scenes:
  • House discusses with Adams and Parks the patient who is moving his company to China which Adams sees as "Destroying Thousands of jobs."
House doesn't see it that way. "Jobs are no being destroyed they are being relocated. The fact that you see that as inherienly bad means that you are an irrational patriot. To put it another way: a patriot."
Parks joins the conversation. "Patrotism is natural. We've always relied upon our tribes to keep us safe. Its helpful to society if its membeshave positive feelings about that society."
"Iranian women? Drag queens in Uganda? Patriotism is nothing but loyalty to real estate. Real estate that's been conquerored 800 times by 800 different rege=imes with 800 different clutures. But each time its just the best."
