January 27, 2006 "The Futon Critic: the web's best television resource" has a list of the 50 Best Episodes of 2005
  1. "house: three stories" (fox) #1 (originally aired: may 17, 2005)
    > "David Shore won the Emmy for writing this episode for one reason - it was absolutely the most original, the most compelling and the most unique hour on TV last year. It's here we follow House (the awesome Hugh Laurie) as he subs for a sick professor during which he weaves the stories of three patients (including that of, no joke, Carmen Electra) - stories which in an unexpected twist, reveal how and why he walks with a cane and eats painkillers like candy."
January 15, 2006: Asbury Park Press: "THIS YEAR'S GOLDEN GLOBE NOMINEES.... the 63rd annual Golden Globe Awards. The ceremony will air Monday on NBC (Channels 4 and 10) starting at 8 p.m.Television.... "2. House (Fox). Hugh Laurie establishes himself as the year's most provocative TV character: a brilliant diagnostic physician, crummy human being and devilishly rapier wit, solving medical mysteries like a detective doctor. Slick production and the addition of Sela Ward as his ex-fiancee foil make this Tuesday hour a must-watch in a tough time slot."
December 27, 2005: USA Network is announcing that it will start rerunning House on January 6, 2006 11/10C. Episodes will air in order from the show's beginning.

December 2, 2005: "Pop Culture Freak" posted on Television Without Pity's House Forum From thefutoncritic.com: "Sister cable networks USA and Bravo have purchased the off-network rights to FOX's Tuesday hit 'House' from NBC Universal Television. The deal, valued at $1.4 million per episode, gives the pair the exclusive weekday repeat rights to the series beginning in the fall of 2008. As for 'House,' it's not clear how the episodes will be split between the networks, although USA will likely get the bulk of the runs much like the 'Intent' deal. In addition, NBC Universal also plans to sell the weekend rights to local stations across the country, likewise beginning in the fall of 2008."

Hollywood Reporter says, "'Arrested Development'/'House' crossover: In an effort to land 'Arrested' some much-needed viewers, Dr. Greg House (Hugh Laurie) makes a rare house call to the Bluths and comes away impressed by their stunningly shallow family dynamic. As a reward, he nearly smiles. Once. For like a second."

October 18, 2005: — "iMissEthan" posted at the Television Without Pity's House Forum "Stephen Fry was on Chris Evans' radio show on BBC2 last week (I think 10/15). I heard it through a podcast via iTunes, but there may be easier ways. Someone sent in a question as to whether there would be any new Jeeves & Woosters made and Fry said Hugh Laurie is trying to get him to guest star on House, either as an even nastier doctor or an incredibly nice doctor. He mentioned how hard Hugh is working on the show...."

Parts of the interviews are in the podcast that was linked to a while back, and bits of them are in the ducklings video that was up recently, but there's some new stuff in this video too. Click on the Season Two video links and it's the second one down (there's also one of LL...)."

August 16, 2005: There is an article in the current (August 21-27) issue of TV Guide:
"Hugh Laurie writes about the biggest role of his career."
This is funny! And interesting. Just read this short part as he describes what he felt when first reading the full script of the pilot about the character he eventually would be playing:
"...a brilliantly written one... a scarred, lame, dysfunctional misanthrope, intent on punishing himself, and the world—the Hunchback of Princeton, the Phantom of the Operating Suite, with all the nasty, self-pitying egocentrism of a spoiled adolescent.

"He was also, to my mind, a hero, a relentless seeker after truth, a knight errant, slaying emotional and microbial dragons with equal skill, and with a psychopathic disregard for his own safety."
July 30, 2005: More of Hugh Laurie's comments at the Television Critics Association Awards:
"Hugh Laurie... told critics Thursday he really couldn't think of any personal stories about funny doctor experiences.
"'I'm very conscious of the world being divided into people to whom anecdotes happen and [those] to whom anecdotes don't happen,' he explained to laughter. 'And I belong to the non-anecdotes part of the world. Anecdotes don't happen to me. Some people go and fetch dry cleaning, and they can get 20 minutes' stand-up out of that.'"

May 31, 2005:
This coming week's TV Guide names Hugh Laurie as one of the sexist men on TV:
  • "Hugh Laurie: House
"Hugh is a formidable man. He has a lot of power. He's very tall, with those steely blue eyes that can be so piercing. He's got that English reserve, which is mysterious. He's incredibly intelligent, but he's also got a tremendous sense of humor. In order to keep House's remarks from being too bitter or nasty, an actor has to understand the humor in it. Hugh does. With him it's never ugly; it's refreshing. And House is such a great character, because he's not compliant with social mores or codes of behavior. He's an adult rebel — the James Dean of our generation. He represents what people wish they could say or do, and that's very attractive."        — Sela Ward
